Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Trellis handles information for the Trellis beta garden planning application.

Beta Status

Trellis is currently in beta. Features, data models, and retention practices may change as the product is tested and improved. This page is a product and engineering privacy summary for beta testers, not a complete legal privacy policy.

Information We Collect

Trellis may store account identifiers from Clerk, garden names, ZIP/location information, frost dates, garden notes, plans, beds, plant placements, generated tasks, journal entries, Viridia chat conversations and messages, and technical diagnostics needed to run and debug the beta.

Weather and Location Context

When you enter a ZIP code, Trellis resolves city/state, latitude, and longitude so it can provide weather and frost-date context. Do not enter a ZIP code if you do not want Trellis to store approximate garden location information. We do not sell your location information.

Viridia and Groq

Viridia uses Groq as the hosted AI provider for beta chat responses. When you ask Viridia a question, Trellis may send selected context to Groq, including garden profile details, plans, plants, tasks, weather summaries, journal entries, and recent chat history. Trellis does not intentionally send API keys, database URLs, Clerk secrets, or other users' private data. Viridia does not automatically create, edit, or delete your garden data in the MVP.

Sensitive Information

Please do not enter sensitive personal information into garden notes, journal entries, or Viridia chat. Trellis is designed for garden context, not sensitive medical, legal, financial, or identity information.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We may share limited information with service providers that help us run authentication, hosting, databases, analytics, weather, and AI features.

Debugging During Beta

During beta, maintainers may review limited account, garden, task, journal, or chat records when needed to troubleshoot bugs, investigate abuse, improve data quality, or support testers. Avoid entering anything you would not want reviewed for those purposes.

Data Deletion or Reset

Self-serve data deletion is not complete yet. If you want your beta account or garden data deleted or reset, contact the Trellis maintainers through the beta support channel.

Privacy Concerns

Report privacy or security concerns through the beta support channel. Include what happened, when it happened, and the account email you used, but do not send passwords, API keys, or other secrets.

By using Trellis, you agree to these terms and the Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
